The 13 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before Starting A Search For Rental Space

Most people looking to rent a space for their business start their search with two or three requirements in mind:  how much space they need, what location they want to be in, and how much they want to spend.

When we as commercial real estate agents engage with a client or customer for the first time, these are often the first three questions we ask, but then something unexpected happens when we are working with a new client, we ask a lot more questions.  Part of the job of a real estate agent is to advise and educate property seekers whether they are looking to rent or buy a space for their business.  This is especially pertinent to startup companies or a business expanding from a home office to something in a more professional setting, or an online ecommerce business that started as a side hustle or hobby and quickly outgrew the garage or basement space that it had started in.

As much as I love selling a big flashy multi-tenant office building, or leasing a large manufacturing facility, there is something really rewarding in helping a small business find their first commercial space, and watching the business grow before your eyes.

In today’s post we’ll talk about all the other questions you should ask yourself as part of your search.  Stay tuned for future posts where we will go in depth on each item and discuss questions to ask yourself before starting a search for a property to purchase.  I won’t make you wait any longer, here is the list:

3.   Lease Commencement Costs
